2021 AQM Symposium

In 1981, a group of Quebec puppeteers, returning from the UNIMA Congress in Washington, founded the Quebec Association of Puppeteers (AQM) with the goal of creating a community of practice rooted in a broad recognition of all dimensions of puppetry and motivated by the need to professionalize and promote this multi-faceted and transdisciplinary art. It’s 2021. Do the math… We just turned 40 !

To celebrate this, AQM invites not only its members but all puppet lovers and the entire cultural community to a symposium that will take place from November 4 to 6, 2021, in Montreal. This event, organized in partnership with UQAM’s École supérieure de théâtre and Department of Theatre of Concordia University, is a festive occasion to deepen the artistic and human links that weave our community and to reach out to the world. It will be a symposium of artists, held in an academic context, including numerous social and informal events such as the launch of the new issue of the Marionnettes magazine and AQM’s Annual General Meeting.

A call for submissions is now open for the symposium activities: lectures, roundtables, practical workshops, master classes.
