As part of its 40th anniversary celebrations, the Association québécoise des marionnettistes (AQM) invites the cultural and artistic world to a symposium organised in partnership with UQAM’s École supérieure de théâtre and Concordia University’s Department of Theatre. This event is an opportunity to open a plural and transdisciplinary dialogue with researchers, artists and puppet enthusiasts on the richness of puppetry practices and their multiple manifestations in the performing arts past, present and future.

The AQM Symposium takes place from Thursday, November 4 to Saturday, November 6, 2021 at the Gesù.

Live streaming: The roundtables will be streamed live on our YouTube channel.

Boxed lunches: A boxed lunch service will be offered at a cost of $16 and by reservation only at the time of registration.

Translation: A translation service will be available on site. More details will be provided shortly. The translation of the online roundtables will be done after the Symposium.

Vaccination passport: The vaccination passport is mandatory to participate at the Symposium in-person.

Registration and costs


Access to the Symposium is free for AQM and UNIMA members.

For non-members, the cost of admission is $20 per day or $50 for access to all three days*.

Access to the online roundtables on our YouTube channel is free.

Marcelle Hudon’s workshop, Objects, materials, manipulations and interdisciplinarity, is offered at a cost of $10 per person. Places are limited to 12 participants. Please register at the peripheral activities ticket office.

You must register at the peripheral activities ticket office to participate in the Welcome reception and launch of the Marionnettes magazine and the Closing Gala. These activities are free and are open to members and non-members by reservation only.

You will be assigned seats during the Symposium activities in order to respect the sanitary measures. We invite you to make a single purchase per social bubble to be seated next to your family, colleagues or friends.
